Good News and Bad News about
Alan Parsons: The 2004 "Alan Parsons Project Reunion
Tour", promoted in Europe for several weeks, will not take place. The tour had been
assembled without asking Alan... Parsons says, "I was amazed to learn that tickets had been
put on sale without my confirmed participation. I never gave consent to anything on
this proposed tour and nor did other artists on the so-called "reunion" line-up. Neither
my agent nor my manager had been formally contacted about these shows and there were no
offers on the table and certainly no contracts. Also, objections were raised over the
advertised billing of the tour and issues relating to the use of the name The Alan Parsons
Project".
In the mean time, Parsons is putting the finishing touches to an album for release in
the spring of 2004. The album is a series of collaborations with electronica acts
including The Crystal Method and Uberzone and features a guest appearance by
David Gilmour.
And believe it or not while I was reading this news, "There's No Way Out Of Here" was
comming out my speakers...
10-01-2004
And there are also rumors of his collaboration on Paul McCartney's new CD 'Mirrors', coming
right away.
Thanks to Katia X ;-)
There will be another Tangent
project! If Guy Manning will work with them again is not confirmed.

Another tragical event in the Pink Floyd camp;
Michael Kamen
died after suffering from multiple sclerosis for several years.
This symphatic man was 55 years young. Kamen is survived by his wife, two daughters,
his father and three brothers.
We'll miss him. My condolences and respect to his family and friends.
18 November 2003.
"Is this the next Pink Floyd...?"
ECLIPSED MAGAZINE
With the huge sweep of symphonic art rock music, a spectacular light show, innovative
film projections and a highly theatrical stage show it’s no surprise
Mostly Autumn
are being widely hailed as the new Pink Floyd.
In May of 2004 the band will be introducing their new studio album by playing three
major shows in England. These shows will be even bigger and more adventurous than
previous tours and will again feature a string section, special guest star Troy Donockley
and a vastly enhanced visual presentation.
But first see them in Verviers or Zoetermeer! See the linkpage.
Queen Honours Gilmour and Holland for Services to Music.
Pink Floyd guitarist Dave Gilmour and pianist Jools Holland said they were more nervous
receiving honors from the Queen than playing for 100,000 people. Gilmour picked up a CBE
for services to music, while Holland collected an OBE in a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Gilmour, 59, joked that the Queen had probably never even listened to Pink Floyd. When
asked what the Queen had said, he replied: "She said Pink Floyd had been doing it for a
very long time and I had to agree. "Playing to 100,000 people is not so nerve wracking,
playing to a few people is much harder," he said.
The guitarist, who attended the investiture at Buckingham Palace with his wife Holly
and two of his eight children, said the CBE was a fantastic honor but he admitted
he had felt nervous about meeting the Queen.
7 November 2003.
STEVE O'ROURKE: 1940 - 2003: Steve O'Rourke, the Pink Floyd's manager, had tragically
suffered a fatal stroke. Steve was
Pink FLoyds manager since 1968.
30 october.
After his funeral the rumour went that Nick, Rick, David and Roger played
two songs on his funeral; A Great Gig In The Sky and Fat Old Sun. Dick Parry played sax.
Storm Thorgerson is recovering from a stroke in a hospital in Paris. Hope he get well
soon!
Alan Parsons hits the road again with Ian Bairnson, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton and Stuart Elliott.
David Gilmour on
Robert Wyatts new cd Cuckooland.
Warren Zevon died
Sunday 7 September 2003, cancer. Warren was a good singer-songwriter and friend of
Jackson Browne.
New albums to mention; Mostly Autumn
- Passengers (GREAT),
Pineapple Thief - Variations On A Dream (mmm certainly nice to have), Osi (see Dream Theater.
Portnoy, heavy prog rock), Radiohead
(a bit dissapointed about them),
Arena & Spock's Beard,
(to heavy for me, but some verry nice pieces!),
Neal Morse
solo-album is more my style (NICE),
or Glen Hughes?
Guy Manning (almost out now!),
a new Yes album? No it is called
Conspiracy by Chris Squire & Billy Sherwood, or did you mean the new
Glass Hammer? Or the new great solo-album from
Rick Wakeman with Damian Wilson.
Jadis and
Satillite strongly recommended

Darkside Of The Moon great to see, and a a great acoustic version of Breathe

Camel
USA TOUR: We are pleased to report that Camel keys man, Guy LeBlanc’s wife, Dawn, is slowly
recovering from her heart attack. Although the European tour has been postponed,
the USA portion of the tour is on schedule. As soon as it was certain Guy LeBlanc
could not do the tour, Andrew Latimer shifted into high gear to find a replacement
keyboard player. Andrew immediately contacted old friends Kit Watkins, Mickey Simmonds
and Ton Scherpenzeel but all were previously engaged.
Whiz Kid Tom Brislin, will do the job. He filled in for Rick Wakeman on the YES
Symphonic tour and has also played with Meat Loaf since 1998. Young, but clearly
wise beyond his years, Tom says "I was raised on bombastic '70's rock. My older
brother and sisters would blast their Meat Loaf, Yes, ELP, Foreigner, Pink Floyd,
Led Zeppelin, Genesis, etc. I was a 4-year old prog-kid".
EUROPEAN TOUR: Ton Scherpenzeel will take over the keyboards in Europe, he has a
fear to fly and is very busy with Kayak.
David Gilmour found the original stereo mastertape from Joker’s Wild in his cellar.
With this band he recorded 5 songs in 1965. There were 50 5 track albums and 50 2 track
singles released. David won’t be giving them to put them on a new CD version but they are
thinking about putting one or more tracks on an “Introspective” which will appear somewhere
in the futur.
See for more details his latest interview.
Marillion: Marillion have a world recordin the Guiness book of records:
The fastest time for a music DVD to be filmed and then released is 63 hr 29 min. Featuring the band
Marillion, it was recorded at the Marillion Convention at Butlins, Minehead, Somerset UK
on 14 March 2003, before going on sale to the public on 17 March 2003.
Focus / Landmarq: Focus and Landmarq will be double-headlining at the Underworld in
London on May 25th. Landmarq will be welcoming two special guests at their performance:
cellist Hugh McDowell (ELO) and saxophonist Laurent Hunziger (Supertramp). The latter may
also appear with Landmarq at the Club Riga two days earlier.
14-04-03
There's also a gig planned with Focus and
Guy Manning.
RPWL had a great awesome gig in Verviers,
they started their show very impressive with Opel (yes indeed; Syd Barrett)(incluiding the
liquid projections). Another cover, with the band Ritual back on stage was from Peter Gabriel;
Games without Frontiers. Great concert with excellent floydian spheres.
Go and see them!
23-03-03.
Alan Parsons has begun work on the new album. This will be the first record without his
long-time bandmates Ian Bairnson, and Stuart Elliott. The new album will be take Alan
in a new direction and into world of electronica.
His former bandmate Eric Woolfson is busy with the recording of his new ceedee about
Edgar Alan Poe.
David Gilmour on the new Ringo Starr CD :
Ringo Starr will release a new solo album, Ringo Rama, in March. The record features guest
spots by Eric Clapton, David Gilmour, Willie Nelson, Van Dyke Parks, Shawn Colvin,
the Eagles' Timothy B. Schmit and legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden...
Andrew Dansby- Rolling Stone Magazine - January 27/03
NEWS - David Gilmour Flies With 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' Song.
(11/6/02, 1 p.m. ET) -- One of the many surprises on David Gilmour In Concert is a rendition
of "Hushabye Mountain," a song from the family film Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
As the father of eight children from two marriages--including another child born just this
year to him and his wife, Polly--Gilmour has had plenty of exposure to the film and to the
song. And, the Pink Floyd singer-guitarist tells LAUNCH, not necessarily always by choice.
"My young kids love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and they play the soundtrack album for that all
the time, and I'm constantly saying, 'For God's sake, turn that awful thing off!' But every
time it got to that one song, 'Hushabye Mountain,' I thought, 'That's rather nice. It has a
really nice arrangement,' and had a really nice cello part and stuff in it. So I tried it
on some of my older kids, and on Polly, and they said, 'You've gotta do it. You've got to
do that.'"
Gilmour adds that even with that ringing endorsement, he wasn't entirely sure how he felt
about doing the song in concert. "I was very, very nervous about it. I stuck it right in
the end after, 'cause it's a good night sort of song. I stuck it right after 'A Great Day
For Freedom' and I thought, 'Well, if I haven't got the balls, I can always stop after
'A Great Day For Freedom' and say, 'Goodnight,' and split then.'"

Guy Mannings album "View from the Hill" is comming out end of 2003.

David Gilmour: Some people in the Pink Floyd community claim to have it on very good authority that David Gilmour will not be touring this year, contrary to announcements made last year. It now looks like 2004 will be the earliest that Gilmour might hit the road for an extended tour. But with anything regarding the Floyd or its offshoots, I only believe it when it comes directly from one of the fab four.

New albums: Ragged Curtain from (Guy)-Manning! Karnataka got a new album out and many tour-dates planned in 2003 with
All About Eve. 12-11-02.
The live Pulse album is coming out in a 5.1 Surround Sound DVD mix, and the band is about to jump into remixing
their classic Dark Side of the Moon album in 5.1 sound.
"We've got a quad mix that Alan Parsons did back in '73," he, David Gilmour, says. "It's not quite as good as what I would
want."
So odds are the band will go back and do a full remix from scratch, which creates another bonus. Because of limitations
of the day, every format of Dark Side has not been off the master tapes; the 16-track backing tracks were always at least
a generation removed and altered.
"We can go back one stage and do a remix from the very original masters," Gilmour says. "We can have a 5.1 that
intrinsically is better than anything out there." 10-11-'02
Roger Waters: On October 16, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra will give the premier performance of the Overture from
Roger Waters' opera, Ca Ira. In addition, Roger will play 2 songs with his band and the RPO. The concert is given in aid
of The Countryside Alliance. This organisation wants to preserve hunting with dogs as a part of the English culture, no
less.
Neal Morse, founder member, lead vocalist, keyboard player and main composer of Spock's Beard, has announced his
resignation from the band, effective immediately.
You can find this site easily: www.mostlypink.net
David Gilmour: Activity from David Gilmour is definitely picking up, with a new solo album (his third,
following 1978's David Gilmour and 1984's About Face) and accompanying 12-date European tour planned for 2003. The release
of Gilmour's In Concert DVD, containing his Royal Festival Hall performance earlier this year, has been postponed to
end October. For a review of a promo copy of the DVD, head to Brain Damage. Thanks to 'Ed' & 'Charles' /dprp.
30-09-02
Roger Waters / Nick Mason: Well, not only did Nick Mason participate in the soundcheck for Roger Water's gigs at the
Wembley Arena on June 26th and 27th, but he also climbed behind the drumkit for Set the Controls for the Heart of the
Sun during the shows themselves. Thus was half of the classic Pink Floyd line-up briefly reunited.
Roger will give some shows in London with Jeff Beck.
Pink Floyd / David Gilmour / Roger Waters: Three Pink Floyd related DVD releases will see the light of day in the coming
months. They are:
Roger Waters - The Wall Live In Berlin (August 19th)
David Gilmour - Live At The Royal Festival Hall (September 2)
Pink Floyd - Pulse (October)
Thanks to 'Charles' & 'Ed'.

A few days later Sir Paul McCartney married Heather Mills in Ireland.
And to one of the glimmer-twins we've to say Sir Mick Jagger.
