Hello dear friends,
RPWL.
RPWL just confirmed that they will release a special edition cd, with 5 live songs and 4 solo songs.
RPWL is a German Prog band influenced by Pink Floyd and Genesis. They started as a cover band but after the death of a dear friend they wrote the album "As God Has Failed". And that is an absolute great stylish album in the vein of "Wish you Were Here"... "einfach spitze"! (that's German for Top ;-)
They did make an single with the ex-Genesis singer Ray Wilson; "Roses" a good more easy going song. Please visit
their MySpacePage and have a listen.
More info about the tracklist (a cover from The Pink Floyd "Let There Be More Light" is included)
of the new album at www.mostlyrpwl.nl.
Blind Ego.
The solo project of Kalle Wallner of RPWL is in the UK next week:
1 Sep 2007
Montgomery Hall nr Rotherham, with Pallas!
2 Sep 2007
The Peel London, with Into The woods!
Paul Wrightson: vocals (ARENA)
John Jowitt: bass (I.Q., FROST, NEO)
Yogi Lang: keyboards (RPWL)
Irwin Reader: Drums
So I think that is an ultimate change to see a wonderful band with some great names. And believe me they Rock and Prog!
MySpacePage.
Odin Dragonfly.
Odin Dragonfly have released their solo album "Offerings". Odin Dragonfly is Angela Gordon & Heather Findlay both of Mostly Autumn.
More info here.
Life dates:
25 August The Fly London
26 August Litte civic Wolverhampton
Ann Marie did act in Karnataka (together with Rachel Jones, nowadays in The Reasoning) and het boyfriend is called
Dave Killminster, who some of you will recognize as one of the guitar players of Roger Waters.
And who has delivered a solo cd this summer.
MySpace: Odin Dragonfly, Ann Marie Helder & Dave Kilminster.
PS I got their cd just delivered; wauw a nice mellow acosutic pearl, of few songs i want to mention; "Yellow Time" (you can find this one on the second cd of "Heart Full Of Sky"; I love this!) , "Witches Promis", a cover from Yethro Tull and a beautiful version of "Caught in a Fold". And oh yes, they close with "forsaken Love" a cover from Stevie Nicks.
Snowy White.
Snowy played together with Dave Kilminster ánd Andy FairweatherLow for Roger Waters last tour.
Snowy will be touring again in the Netherlands, Zwitersland & Germany with his "White Flames", here you can see
when and where.
A live album, "Live Flames," will be released in October 2007.
Tracks: I'll Be Moving On, That Ain't Right, What I'm Searching For, Land Of Plenty, Time Waits For No Man,
A Miracle I Need, Wintersong, The Emmerpeirissa Express, Whiteflames Blues, American Dream, Long Grey Mare,
That's When I'll Stop Loving You.
So don't expect that he will play Pink Floyd or Thin Lizzy on his current tour, only own swampy blues and Rock.
A new White Flames Band studio album is underway and will be released in 2008.
The Reasoning. You still can win 2 albums of The Reasoning at my site , and if you think the questions are too difficult... just write something nice. You must know that I'm easy going. The competion will be closed end of the next week. This is their MySpacePage if you need some help, or just want to listen to 3 great songs.
Here you can see this most promising band live with Steve Rothery (of Marillion) on guitar; on YouTube. And this is the official promo video of "Awakening".
If you want to hear Matthew Cohen & Rachel Jones doing an interview and hear what kind of music they like, then tune in to
GTFM.co.uk on Wednesday 29th August.
If you have any questions you want to ask them, just fire them into GTFM.co.uk or you can phone live on air.
Matthew wrote:
Dylan and myself have been rather busy in the studio this week. The new album is coming on in leaps and bounds and we now have 5 tracks (30 minutes) finished musically and 2 tracks completed with all the vocals and lyrics. Rachel and Gareth brought a beautiful idea for a song to us last week then we set about arranging it and writing all the accompanying parts. The song is called "Breaking The 4th Wall" and to be honest it is stunning. I cannot get it out of my head and it only took us, in total, 6 hours to write and record. A great feeling and a sign that the song has a very natural flow that will get you hooked, I promise

16th September, see this new page.
A week earlier you can watch the dvd in the Cinema's. A list of the participating cinema's you can find on
my page or the

In the meantime I've discovered a live clip of his "There's No Way Out Of Here" on YouTube. This song
was written by his friends of Unicorn and was the second song on
David Gilmours debut album ('78).
This is an excellent live version from '84.
Note; this is not an official release...
This wil be a bonus track on the "Remember That Night" dvd: Island Jam.
Looking forward to see this wonderfull gig again, specially "Echoes" & the performances of Robert Wyatt,
David Crosby, Graham Nash & of course David Bowie ("Arnold Layne")!
Richard Wright. Richard Wright is the subject of a short but interesting interview with Reuters news agency today. Focusing on the 40th anniversary of The Piper At The Gates of Dawn, he talks about Syd Barrett's songwriting talents.
Tantalisingly, when asked about solo projects, Richard replied: "I've got various ideas. I'm going to do an instrumental album, based on the piano, and I've (got) loads of stuff recorded. It depends how I treat the piano, and whether I need other musicians to play on it. I've got the compositions down. But it's not imminent -- hopefully next year."
The full interview can be read here.
Nick Mason. In a recreation of his guest appearance as part of Michael Mantler's band on May 11th, 1984 in Cologne, and February 8th, 1987 in Frankfurt, Nick Mason journeys back to Germany for another Mantler concert on November 2nd as part of the Berlin Jazz Festival.
With Nick again taking care of percussion in Michael's band, the event takes place at 7:30pm at the Haus der Berliner Festspiele. Tickets are now on sale here, and visit www.jazzfest-berlin.de for more info. (Please note: no Pink Floyd music is scheduled to be performed!)
Phil Manzanera. We recently told you about Phil Manzanera's twelve-part series for Planet Rock radio called "A is for Axe", which takes an alphabetical look at the greatest guitarists. As those who have tuned in to the first three shows have discovered, it is a wonderful, absorbing show and gives some real insights.
This coming Sunday (August 26th) brings show number 4, which features Phil playing examples from, and talking about, the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Steve Howe, George Harrison... oh, and one David Gilmour! Tune in at 8pm BST - you can listen online over at www.PlanetRock.com. If you miss it, it is repeated on Friday, August 31st, at 6pm.
Storm Thorgerson. We've just had confirmation of the North American publication date of the superb new book "Taken By Storm: The Album Art of Storm Thorgerson". Published in the UK at the start of May, (and reviewed here) the book is a stunning look at his past and present work, and includes around 50% of previously unseen material.
Our friends in North America will be thrilled to know that they'll only have to wait until October 30th when it arrives in their stores. Or why not preorder it here at a very healthy discount and have it delivered right to your door?
